World cup opening ceremony 2011 - ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

The Big curtain of ICC World Cup 2011 will be raised on Today Thursday 17 February 2011 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, All cricket world is eagerly waiting for opening ceremony of World Cup 2011. Cricket is one of the most popular sports in India and going to host World Cup for the third time in its history after England, no surprise that tickets of the opening ceremony have already been sold out.
An Indian event management company is organizing the opening ceremony. Crowds can enter into the stadium from 02:30pm local time (08:30 GMT). This event telecast will go live on STAR Cricket from evening 5:30 PM local time India and you can watch the highlights of it on next day.
Main attraction is rickshaw riding of 14 captains of the participating teams. All the captains will arrive at the stadium riding on rickshaw which is a traditional vehicle of Bangladesh. There will be some other events focusing on showcasing the rich culture and heritage of Bangladesh. Singers from three host countries will perform at the grand opening ceremony. Three Bangladeshi female singers including Runa Laila, Sabina Yasmin and Mumtaz along with star Indian singer Sonu Nigam and famous music composer trio Shankar, Ehsan and Loy would perform at the ceremony before renowned Canadian rock star Bryan Adams comes on the stage to provide some international glare to the grand opening ceremony. The biggest attraction of the opening ceremony is perhaps the glittering show of fire-crackers. According to media reports, the fire-cracker show will last for 20 minutes.
Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister of Bangladesh, will announce the opening of the tournament. High officials from International Cricket Council (ICC) including its president, cricket board presidents of host countries and a number of former cricket legends are expected to be present at the opening ceremony.Its good for Indian ocean than we are going to host cricket world cup 2011 best of luck to Bangladesh.

EAMCET 2011

Eamcet committee will meet on January 29 to finalise the schedule for issuing Eamcet-2011 notification and sale of applications. Eamcet notification is likely to be issued on February 5. JNTU-Hyderabad will conduct the Eamcet for the 12th year in a row. Eamcet committee comprises representatives from 25 universities and the officials of higher and technical education departments. The issue of “hi-tech cheating” in the Eamcet last year using modern gadgets is likely to prominently figure in the meeting. Eamcet committee will examine various options like installing cellphone jammers at Eamcet centers to check hi-tech copying.
Eamcet will be conducted on May 8. Andhra Pradesh government has decided to conduct Eamcet on a Sunday like last year to save students from weekday traffic problems. Eamcet 2011 applications would be available in all Andhra Bank branches, e-seva centers and post offices.

Padma Awards 2011

The Padma awards for this year have been declared today. Hyderabad-born Indian cricketer, VVS Laxman has been awarded the Padma Shri for his outstanding performance in Indian cricket. Laxman is the one of the finest batsmen of Indian test cricket, known for pulling off India out of many crisis situations. Yesteryear film actress, Waheeda Rahman will receive this year's Padma Bhusan for her outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. Earlier, she had won the Padma Shri in 1972. Indian music composer Mohammed Zahur "Khayyam" Hashmi, better known as Khayyam has been declared the winner of 2011's Padma Vibhusan. Earlier in 2007, Khayam was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in Creative Music, by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India. Other

Padma Bhusan Awardees are: Shyam Saran , Chanda Kochar,Sashi Kapoor.

The Bharat Ratna is likely to be awarded to none other than cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar's name has already been nominated for the Bharat Ratna awards, confirmed Ambika Soni, the Information and Broadcasting Minister.  If Sachin wins the Bharat Ratna this time, it will be the first time the Bharat Ratna will be given to any sportsperson in India. The Padma awards and the Bharat Ratna will be awarded to their respective recipients on January 26, 2011- India's Republic Day.

ELIGIBILITY FOR IIT JEE 2011

Eligibility: You must make sure that you satisfy all the eligibility conditions given below for appearing in JEE-2011
Date of birth: Candidate belonging to GE, OBC and DS categories must be born on or after October 01, 1986 and those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must be born on or after October 01, 1981
Year of passing qualifying examination (QE): Must have passed the qualifying examination, namely, XII standard or any equivalent examination, after 1st October 2009 or in the year 2010 or will be appearing in 2011
Minimum percentage of marks in QE: candidates belonging to GE, OBC and DS categories must secure at least 60% marks and candidates belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination
Important notes: (i) You can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years. That means you should have attempted JEE for the first time in 2010 or will be appearing in 2011
(ii) If you have accepted admission after qualifying in JEE in earlier years by paying full fees at any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi or ISM, Dhanbad, you will not be eligible to write JEE at all, irrespective of whether or not you joined in any of the programmes
Reservation of seats: For SC and ST candidates, respectively 15% & 7.5% seats are reserved in each programme in all the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISM, Dhanbad. Some candidates belonging to these categories who do not qualify in JEE-2010, may be offered admission to the Preparatory course of one-year duration provided (i) seats are available, (ii) candidates satisfy minimum norms, and (iii) candidates have not undergone the preparatory course earlier. Candidates successfully completing the preparatory course will be offered direct admission to the first year in the academic year 2011-12. For OBC candidates belonging to non-creamy layer, 27% seats are reserved in each programme in all the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISM, Dhanbad. Candidates belonging to this category are admitted on the basis of a relaxed criterion.
For candidates with physical disability (PD), including leprosy-cured candidates, and who are otherwise fit to pursue the course, 3% seats are reserved in each of the categories (viz. GE, OBC, SC and ST). Candidates in this category are also admitted under relaxed norms. In case the reserved seats are not filled, a limited number of PD candidates are admitted to a Preparatory course of one year duration on the basis of a further relaxation. Two seats in each institute are preferentially allotted to children of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations (DS) and who qualify in the general category.

Paper 1 and Paper 2 each will have separate sections in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics

IIT GATE 2011 Notification


Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has invited applications for admission into various engineering courses, to be offered in the ensuing session 2011. The admissions are made through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) exam, to be held on the date mentioned below. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones across the country, jointly by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology, on behalf of the National Coordinating Board.

How to Apply

Interested candidates can apply online by visiting the official website:  For applying online, candidates have to decide the payment option first. The payment options are Gateway payment or Challan payment. After selecting the payment mode, the applicant has to obtain SC/ST/PD Certificate (if applicable). Then, the applicant should fill the online application form and take a printout of the entire file. The duly filled application form, with appropriate enclosures must be sent by Registered or Speed post to the Chairman, GATE of the Zone, where the candidate prefers (corresponding to the 1st Choice of Examination City) to appear for the examination. It can be handed over personally to respective Zonal GATE Office.
                                        One can apply offline also. For applying offline, the candidate has to obtain the application form from the designated bank branches corresponding to each zone on cash payment or over the counter from Zonal GATE Office after handing over a DD for appropriate amount. Thereafter, the duly filled form with appropriate enclosures must be sent by Registered or Speed post to The Chairman, GATE of the Zone, where the candidate prefers (corresponding to the 1st Choice of Examination City) to appear for the examination.
