Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, invites application for Master of Engineering programs in different department. The courses offered are Master of Engineering, Master of Technology and Master of Design along with PhD admissions.

Departments offering Master of Engineering degree (ME): Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Microelectronic Systems, Signal Processing, Systems Science & Automation, and Telecommunication Engineering.

Departments offering admission to Master of Technology degrees (M.Tech): (i) Electronic Systems Engineering,(ii) Computational Science , (iii) Climate Science, (iv) Transportation & Infrastructure Engineering and (v) Instrumentation.

Departments offering admission to Master of Design degrees: Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates possessing a minimum of second class in Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field of Engineering/ Technology or equivalent degree with valid GATE score are eligible to apply. (For ME)

Candidates possessing a minimum of second class in the following qualifying degree with valid GATE score are eligible to apply:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of Engineering/Technology; or Master’s degree in Science, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Instrumentation, Electronics or Master’s in Computer Application as applicable to the respective departments.

Selection for (i), (ii) , (iii) and (iv) is based on an aptitude test and interview subsequent to short-listing based on valid GATE score and for (v) based on valid GATE score only. (For M.Tech)

All the candidates should qualify in the GATE paper concerned in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) (for the M Des program) and possess valid score cards.

Eligibly for Master of Design Degree : Candidates possessing a minimum of second class in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Design / Architecture with valid GATE/CEED scores are eligible to apply.

Selection is based on a Design Aptitude Test and interview subsequent to short-listing based on valid GATE / CEED scores.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), A Government of India Undertaking under the Ministry of Petroleum has the vacancy for the Engineers/ Graduate Apprentice Engineers (GAEs). These vacancies are filled through GATE-2012 and subsequently GD/Interview process. The online submission of the application starts from 2nd Jan 2012. Only GATE-2012 score is valid for this recruitment exercise. GATE score of 2011 or scores prior to that is not valid.

As of 23:00hrs on 21 October, more than 11,39,395 candidates have registered online.

The Gate 2012 official site(IIT-D https://gate2012.iitd.ac.in/iitweb/) has been shutdown on 21st October 2011 at 23:00 hrs.

The GATE copy of the above Application (after pasting the photo and signing) with appropriate enclosures must be sent by Speed Post (preferably) or by Registered Post to The Chairman, GATE of the Zone, where the candidate prefers to appear for the examination (corresponding to the 1st Choice of Examination City), so as to reach on or before Monday, 28 October 2011 or it can be handed over personally to respective Zonal GATE Office.

GATE 2012

Usually GATE notification come in the mid of September, but this time it’s being announced earlier.  IITD will be organizing GATE 2012. One major change happened this year. Third year engineering students are not eligible for GATE 2012. Final Year Engineering students can appear for GATE. This is a good move towards a clear admission strategy for M.Tech.


Application Process and Fee:
GATE aspirants need to apply online for GATE 2012. There no offline or paper based application in GATE 2012. There is no sale of GATE application form at different Banks and counters. Candidates need to apply through their regional GATE websites. To know your zone please refer to GATE 2012 information brochure.
The application fee is Rs. 1000/- for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PD candidates.
