Fire at

Mumbai, Nov 26 (IANS) A major fire gutted three popular shopping complexes in South Mumbai  early Saturday, the fire brigade said. There were no casualties.
According to a fire brigade official, the fire broke out around 3.30 a.m. in the Sara-Sahara Mall, barely a stone's throw away from Mumbai Police Commissionerate at Crawford Market.
The blaze quickly spread from Sara-Sahara Mall to the adjoining Manish Market and Mohta Market, both reputed for their array of electronic and electrical consumer goods, and situated in a thickly congested area.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
The Sara-Sahara Mall has been in the news for its reported ownership by absconding mafia don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar.
Municipal Commissioner Subodh Kumar told reporters that the fire would be brought 'under control soon' and there are no immediate reports of any casualties.
At least 33 fire tenders and 20 water tankers were rushed to the scene and attempted to tackle the blaze in the heart of the commercial area of south Mumbai.
So far, over 350 shops in the three shopping plazas have been reduced to ashes, besides several small shops located nearby, resulting in losses estimated in several crores of rupees.

Children's day

Universally, Children’s Day is celebrated on 20thNovember, every year. This date was chosen as a day to celebrate childhood. Prior to 1959 Children’s Day was universally celebrated in the month of October. This was first celebrated in the year 1954, as decided by the UN General Assembly. Basically this day was instituted with the sole aim of promoting communal exchange and understanding among children, as well as to bring about beneficiary action to promote the welfare of children, all over the globe.

The date 20th November, was chosen as it marks the anniversary of the day in 1959, when the Declaration of the Rights of the Child was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly adopted. In 1989 the Convention on the Rights of the Child was signed on the same date, which has been sanctioned by 191 states, ever since.

However, while 20th November is universally celebrated as Children’s Day, in India this day has been preponed to 14th November, the date the marks the birth anniversary of independent India’s first Prime Minister – Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

The reason why his birthday has been chosen for the celebration of children is because of his love and passion for children. Pandit Nehru is also regarded as the country’s special child to have been the first Prime Minister, after her long struggle for independence.

The day is marked with a lot of activities for children. But the fact remains that only a section of the country’s children actually have an opportunity to celebrate their existence. Schools organize events and activities that their students thoroughly enjoy, but there is an entire populace of young ones that are left ignored on this special day – the downtrodden street children.

Instead of celebrating it with pomposity in schools and clubs and hotels, why not bring a difference into the lives of children who are unprivileged. While celebrating being a child, the fortunate ones should be reminded about their good fortune to have all that they are endowed with, while there are others who can barely feed or clothe themselves.

Thus, while this day was globally instituted to provide children with basic Rights, maybe one can make a difference to a child’s life by doing something special. Parties and celebrations happen all the time, but how about taking the fortunate children to homes that shelter street children and have them befriend those kids, donating clothes, toys, stationery, books, etc.

Another way of celebrating this day differently would be to have your children, whether as teacher or parent, organize a party for some underprivileged children. In fact, if this is done in every neighborhood, imagine how many smiles there will be across the nation.

TODAY'S CHILDREN ARE TOMORROW'S FUTURE.

The children growing up in today's world are tomorrow's future. They are also individuals today, with hopes, fears, needs, aspirations and rights.

                           HAPPY CHILDREN'S DAY

Improve UR marks :-

To Improve Ur marks a few suggestions and my experience  to share with u

Hello students,

It is very easy to get good marks in jntu exams, only when you know how..

Firstly, Don't think that you can pass the exams by repeating the question papers or filling the additional with some idiotic stuff.. It is wrong.. please leave this misconception, It wont take you anywhere..

Impress the examiner with your handwriting and beginning  (It is not mandatory to have a beautiful handwriting, but at least have a hand writing that everyone understands),

Next, show him that you have got some interest in giving the exam and that you have stuff in your brain by writing stuff from textbooks.. Don't write your exams for the sake of anyone, write them to prove your capability..

Never follow All in one answers, examiners have enough brains to find out where your answers come from.. so, at least try to draw diagrams and tabular columns from textbooks.because they have the sample scripts in which stuff is gathered from prescribed text books but in all in one some matter is in there passion due to copy rights.

Use all in one when you wont find the topics in textbook, try to find out answers to all the questions in all in one from text books.., there is no guarantee for all in one answers , follow it at your own risk..

Concentrate on the chapters that are easy for you, but if you have not studied anything till today, then try learning the units with less content.. I mean units with less topics..

Important point :-

Almost all examiners come to evaluate scripts for the sake of money, they get 12/- per script, each bundle contains 40 scripts, so examiner's concentration is to complete the bundles in the minimum possible time, your answer script is glanced hardly for a minute, so draw his attention towards the related equations, related diagrams and related side headings or putting result in a box.

*If you are asked to solve a problem and you have got no idea about it, then at least write the given data, what to find, diagram you might be lucky enough to get 50% marks..

*Revision is very important.. don't forget to revise everything you read, if not everything then at least the diagrams and equations..

* never leave any question, you are asked to write five questions try to write five, If you know only three answers then try to write stuff related to the asked question for the remaining two answers.. In this case, If you write the first three answers from text book, there are more chances of getting good marks as the examiner will be in an impression that you are smart, thats the reason I asked you earlier to read from textbooks..

**Do you find it difficult to revise for exams when you have so many subjects and things to remember? If the answer is yes, then you are not alone!

These tips should help.

1. Find out the exact dates of your exams. You will know how much time you have left before each exam. It might help to draw up a table which includes all your subjects and all the weeks you have until the last exam, and then fill in the exam dates.

2. Prioritise your subjects. If you think you have most to do in networks or that is your weakest subject then this will be top priority. Put all your subjects in an order from most to least important.

3. Decide on a revision plan which will work for you. How many hours do you need to do of a night? Do you have other commitments you can't get out of? Leave some time for breaks, meals and free time but ensure you have a good time slot each night for revision.

4. Fill in your revision timetable in with your subjects, and use your priority list to give the most important ones more revision time.

5. Stick to this timetable! speaking from my experience, if you decide to focus solely on one or two subjects because you think you know the others, you will get a nasty shock. Don't ignore any of the subjects, but ensure you have a balance where your priority subjects have the lead.

6. Begin by revising all the material which you don't know as well. There is no point in beginning to revise the transistors in electonics if you are pretty confident in it. You may find that also prioritising each individual subjects modules or topics helps you. Therefore if you run out of time you will know that you have definitely revised the hardest stuff!

7. Actually attempt to remember the material. It sounds stupid but most of the time people are tempted to spend all their revision time just reading or writing and assume that they know it all. Never assume; If you assume you know it without actually testing yourself on it then you might get a shock in the exam...

Never give up - easier said than done.. right, but giving up only makes you more of a failure when you don't get the marks you wanted for your exam. You will always have the guilt of knowing you didn't try your hardest.

Everyone learns differently; you just have to discover how is the best way for you. But in the end it all comes down to testing yourself, so you can be sure you know it!

You may not achieve the marks you expected. Know in yourself what you are capable of achieving so you don't set your targets too high. Don't settle for lower marks than your ability either though, just know your ability and do your best.

• Never compare yourself to your friends. They are not you. we are all different. Just do your best and be happy with that.

Have faith in yourself and do your best, you will definitely you succeed with flying colours..

Festival of lights

HAPPY DIWALI TO ALL

On account of Diwali once just remember the occasion form which the festival origin in view of different religions

Deepavali or Diwali, popularly known as the "festival of lights," is a festival celebrated between mid-October and mid-November for different reasons. Diwali is celebrated mainly in India and is main festival in India. For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. For Jains, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha or nirvana by Mahavira in 527 BC

Lakshmi pooja :-

Deepavali marks the end of the harvest season in most of India. Farmers give thanks for the bounty of the year gone by, and pray for a good harvest for the year to come. Traditionally this marked the closing of accounts for businesses dependent on the agrarian cycle, and is the last major celebration before winter. Lakshmi symbolizes wealth and prosperity, and her blessings are invoked for a good year ahead.
There are two legends that associate the worship of Lakshmi on this day. According to the first legend, on this day, Lakshmi emerged from Kshira Sagar, the Ocean of Milk, during the great churning of the oceans, Samudra manthan. The second legend (more popular in western India) relates to the Vamana avatar of the big three Vishnu, the incarnation he assumed to kill the demon king Bali. On this day, Vishnu came back to his abode the Vaikuntha; so those who worship Lakshmi receive the benefit of her benevolent mood, and are blessed with mental, physical and material well-being.
As per spiritual references, on this day "Lakshmi-panchayatan" enters the Universe. Vishnu, Indra, Kubera, Gajendra and Lakshmi are elements of this "panchayatan" (a group of five). The tasks of these elements are:

  • Lakshmi: Divine Energy (Shakti) which provides energy to all the above activities.
  • Vishnu: Happiness (happiness and satisfaction)
  • Kubera: Wealth (generosity; one who shares wealth)
  • Indra: Opulence (satisfaction due to wealth)
  • Gajendra: Carries the wealth
In View Of Jainism :

Replica of Pava temple at Pansara. Mahavira attained Nirvana at Pava.Diwali has a very special significance in Jainism, just like Buddha Purnima, the date of Buddha's Nirvana, is for Buddhists as Easter is for Christians. Lord Mahavira, the last of the Jain Tirthankar of this era, attained Nirvana or Moksha on this day at Pavapuri on Oct. 15, 527 BC, on Chaturdashi of Kartika, as Tilyapannatti of Yativrashaba from the sixth century states:Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara of this era, revitalised Jainism Dharma followed by Jains even today. Though few outdated history books still mention that he established Jainism. According to tradition, the chief disciple of Mahavira, Ganadhara Gautam Swami also attained complete knowledge (Kevalgyana) on this day, thus making Diwali one of the most important Jain festivals.

Mahavira attained his nirvana at the dawn of the amavasya (new moon). According to the Kalpasutra by Acharya Bhadrabahu, 3rd century BC, many gods were present there, illuminating the darkness. The following night was pitch black without the light of the gods or the moon. To symbolically keep the light of their master's knowledge alive:
16 Gana-kings, 9 Malla and 9 Lichchhavi, of Kasi and Kosal, illuminated their doors. They said: "Since the light of knowledge is gone, we will make light of ordinary matter" ("गये से भवुज्जोये, दव्वुज्जोयं करिस्समो").
Dipavali was mentioned in Jain books as the date of the nirvana of Mahavira. In fact, the oldest reference to Diwali is a related word, dipalikaya, which occurs in Harivamsha-Purana, written by Acharya Jinasena  and composed in the Shaka Samvat era in the year 705.

tatastuh lokah prativarsham-araat ako
prasiddha-deepalikaya-aatra bharate
samudyatah poojayitum jineshvaram
jinendra-nirvana vibhuti-bhaktibhak

Translation: The gods illuminated Pavanagari by lamps to mark the occasion. Since that time, the people of Bharat celebrate the famous festival of "Dipalika" to worship the Jinendra (i.e. Lord Mahavira) on the occasion of his nirvana.

In View Of Sikhism :

For Sikhs, Diwali is particularly important which they celebrate after the celebration of Bandi Chhorh Divas (the Day of Freedom), celebrating the release from prison of the Sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind Ji, and 52 other princes with him, in 1619. Sikhs celebrate Diwali for a number of reasons:
Sikhs celebrate Diwali after celebration of Bandi Chhorh Divas. Sikhs celebrate Bandi Chhorh Divas to mark the return of the Sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind Ji, who was freed from imprisonment and also managed to release 52 Hindu Kings (political prisoners) at the same time from the famous fort of Gwalior by making clever use of Emperor Jahangir's orders to allow any who could hold on to the Gurus coat tails to leave the fort with the Guru (October, 1619). And so the Kings/rajahs were freed and the Guru became known popularly as the "Bandi Chhor" (Deliverer from prison). He arrived at Amritsar on the Diwali day and the HarMandar (also known as the "Golden Temple") was lit with hundreds of lamps to celebrate his return and hence the day came to be known as the "Bandi Chhor Divas" (the day of freedom).
An important Sikh event associated with Diwali is the martyrdom of the elderly Sikh scholar and strategist Bhai Mani Singh in 1737. Bhai Mani Singh was the Granthi (keeper/reader of Sikh scripture) of Harmandir Sahib (popularly known as the Golden Temple). He transcribed the final version of Guru Granth Sahib dictated to him by Guru Gobind Singh in 1704.
Bhai Mani Singh assumed charge of Harmandir Sahib's management in 1708. In 1737, he received permission from Zakariya Khan, the then Mughal governor of Punjab, to hold a religious gathering of the Khalsa for celebrating Bandi Chhorh Diwas on the auspicious day of Diwali for a large tax of 5000 Rupees. He expected to put together the required sum from contribution made by the Sikhs who would assemble that day. But on discovered Zakariya Khan's plot to kill the Sikhs during the gathering, he sent out messages warning them not to turn up for the meeting. As a result the tax could not be paid and Zakariya Khan ordered Bhai Mani Singh's execution at Lahore.
Ever since the Bandi Chhorh Diwas celebrated during Diwali is also commemorated the martyrdom of Bhai Mani Singh. It is also believed that this event along with other Sikh martyrdoms gave further momentum to the Khalsa struggle for freedom and eventual success in establishing the Khalsa rule in the north of Delhi.
Lastly, The festival of Diwali became the second most important day after the Baisakhi, when Khalsa was formally established by the Tenth Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.
The Sikh struggle against Mughal Empire's atrocities on non-Muslims, especially on Sikhs, which intensified in the 18th century, came to be centered around this day. After the execution of Banda Bahadur in 1716, who had led the agrarian uprising in Punjab, the Sikhs started the tradition of deciding matters concerning the community at the biennial meetings which took place at Amritsar on the first of Baisakh and at Diwali. These assemblies were known as the Sarbat Khalsa and a resolution passed by it became a gurmata (decree of the Guru). So, Diwali is celebrated by Sikhs because Guru Hargobind returned to Amritsar after his imprisonment at Gwalior where he also won the freedom of 52 innocent Princes who had long been imprisoned at Gwakior for political reasons.
Bhai Gurdas narrated the whole story telling us what happened: Guru Hargobind, the sixth Guru, had been arrested for political reasons. The Mughal Emperor now decided that the religious fundamentalists that had been behind the martyrdom of the fifth Guru, Guru Arjun, were a greater threat to his throne. The Mughal Emperor, therefore, offered to free Guru Hargobind but Guru Hargobind refused to take his freedom until 52 princes who had also been detained for political reasons were also freed. The Emperor offered that all those who could hold the Guru's cloak could go free. 52 tassles were attached to the Guru's cloak and holding to his cloak all the 52 princes went free.
In addition to Nagar keertan (a street procession) and an Akhand paath (a continuous reading of Guru Granth Sahib), Diwali is celebrated by an awesome fireworks display. The Golden Temple as well as the whole complex is festooned with thousands of shimmering lights, creating a unique jewelbox effect.
The Sikh tradition holds that the Emperor Jahangir had imprisoned Guru Hargobind Ji and 52 princes. The Emperor was asked to release Guru Hargobind Ji which he agreed to do. However, the Guru asked that the princes be released also. The Emperor agreed, but said only those who could hold onto his cloak tail would be allowed to leave the prison. This was in order to limit the number of prisoners who could leave.
